02 Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind 3 (AYLI)

This song from Shakespeare’s comedy As You Like It (2:7) comes after the famous “All the world’s a stage…” speech.  The “heigh ho” of the chorus makes the song seem jolly, but there is an undercurrent of bitterness in the words. The lyrics of the verses compare the blowing of the winter wind with the cruelty of humans toward one another,  and state that humans can be much more “cold” in their dealings with their fellow beings than any force of nature.
