I first got the inspiration to try learning a song in Tagalog when I was still dating my wife. We attended a concert in Vancouver of David Pomeranz and Joey Albert. For those who are not Filipino, David Pomeranz is a Caucasian performer who has had great success writing and recording music in the Philippines. I thought that might help me with remembering the words. One of my fondest memories of working on this song was the coaching I got from my future father-in-law. While my wife was out doing wedding chores, I would sometimes stay in our hotel room and he would coach me on the pronunciation. The signal to rehearse was a large can of Pringles Chips, which I would use as my “microphone”. Whenever he gave me the can of Pringles, it meant rehearsal time…
